OBJECTIVES
A. To identify and select eligible participants from the target area.
- Recruit at least 200 participants, particularly from traditionally underrepresented groups.
- Screen applicants to determine program eligibility, to survey needs, to select participants, to classify for services, and to maintain documented records that verify the need for project services
- Prepare monthly Review Reports to assure that project recruitment goals are being met and that statistical data is accurate and readily available for evaluation and reporting purposes.
B. To develop resources for use in meeting project objectives.
- Maintain an Information Resource Center for counselor and participant use.
- Further nurture and establish cooperative relationships with service agencies in the target area which have resources needed by project participants.
C. To provide career and academic guidance which encourages each participant to complete secondary school and/or to enter/re-enter a post secondary educational program.
- Follow a systematic approach of assessing and meeting the needs of each participant.
- Arrange and conduct regular large group, small group, and individual site counseling sessions with participants at each target school according to the unique scheduling requirements of the school.
- Conduct special activities, particularly for the Career and Life Planning Early Initiative Program students, to promote participant academic achievement and post secondary preparation and to facilitate enrollment in other special enrichment programs.
- Expand project career resources and provide first-hand career exploration activities.
- Assist each participant in exploring career goals and opportunities.
